De Republikeinse Lt. Gouverneur van Texas Dan Patrick praat de ‘talking points’ van president Trump na. Namelijk dat de kwaal van het coronavirus niet mag leiden tot een kwaal voor de economie. Zodat de economische kwaal erger is dan de oorspronkelijke kwaal. Trump gaat hierbij voorbij aan de werkelijkheid. Want de economie kan nooit opgestart worden als de problemen met het coronavirus niet ingeperkt zijn. Dan Patrick laat zich van een onbarmhartige kant zien. Hij zegt dat ouderen en zwakkeren opgeofferd moeten worden om de economie te redden. Zoals gezegd, een misverstand omdat de economie niet kan bloeien op een niet-opgelost gezondheidsprobleem. Patrick heeft met partijgenoten vermoedelijk de afweging gemaakt dat Trumps herverkiezing ernstiger gevaar loopt door een economische crisis, dan door de vervreemding en opoffering van oudere, zwakke Republikeinse kiezers. Als ze in november 2020 hoe dan ook nog in leven zijn.

Frank Figliuzzi: He quoted Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick of Texas, who said during an appearance that some people are going to be willing and need to die to save the economy.
“If we are headed in that direction, the president needs more than ever before a supportive media outlet that can spill that nonsense out to us,” he continued. He went on to say that Americans must fight back by demanding scientists give accurate information and not get medical facts from Fox News.

At the start of his Tuesday show, conservative radio host Glenn Beck spoke in an upbeat cadence over a jaunty music track, even as he discussed possibly sacrificing lives during the coronavirus outbreak to save the United States and its economy.
“I would rather have my children stay home and have all of us who are over 50 go in and keep this economy going and working,” Beck said. “Even if we all get sick, I’d rather die than kill the country. Because it’s not the economy that’s dying, it’s the country.”
